I’ve been hiding lately.
Hiding in bed reading books.
Sneaking peeks at Facebook.
Reading the news. Scratching my head.
Quite frankly, I’ve had a lot going on in my world without getting into all the national stuff.
So what’s a gal to do when times get tough?
EXTREME SELF-CARE!
I’ve designated the past couple of months to laying low and embracing the quiet, winter months. It’s not what I intended to do because I have all these fantastic plans for my biz, but it’s what I needed for my soul.
Long walks. Breathing in the cold, fresh air with the sun on my face.
Sneaking in short visits to the beach on warmer days.
Exploring a new location. (I just rediscovered a nearby town that I never visit.)
Slowing down.
Finding the beauty that surrounds me.
Listening to soothing music.
Visiting with friends.
And then when I feel the urge to do something (like contact my senators or go grocery shopping), I do it.
This does not mean that I am sitting at home all the time. I recognize that I have work to do and things to take care of.
But there are many, many things that I can say NO to and do.
Courage is taking care of others, but not at the expense of my body, mind, or soul.
Courage comes from taking care of myself.
How can you better nurture yourself?
Once you have filled yourself up with all sorts of goodness, then you are able to strongly support others.
