Action comes from the spirit of prayer, whose source is OM, sound of the imperishable; so the pervading infinite spirit is ever present….
~ The Bhagavad-Gita
My day was filled with synchronicity yesterday. The word popped off the page at me when I was reading a book after several things happened. It’s laughable really because SYNCHRONICITY was trying to tell me something.
Synchronicity is such a great sounding word, but what does it mean? It comes from the word synchronous which is derived from Greek, meaning “same time.” So synchronicity has to do with events happening around the same time, as if it is a coincidence.
Earlier in the day I received a present in the mail. It was a necklace with a beautiful symbol on it that looked familiar, as if a stick person was leaping with joy.
A few hours later I looked in a course catalog and saw a Karuna Reiki class at a local community center. I’ve been wondering about that for a while and decided to do some web surfing on the topic.
As a result, I found Karuna Reiki symbols online. As I’m reading through, it takes a few minutes for my brain to click. One of the symbols is the same as the necklace! It’s the symbol “om” which is from ancient Sanskrit. The sound OM is often used in chanting meditations to help a person become centered and present to the sacred around and inside her.
It figures that I get this “om” smacked in front of me as I’ve been feeling a little fried the past few days. Om reminds me of gentleness and stillness. The chanting of “om” connects with the universal source of peace and love. Om is meant to soothe the soul and bring us to our inner divinity, something I’ve struggled with the past few days.
Carl Jung, a famous psychologist, wrote about synchronicity in great detail. He believed that when two or more things happen that seem to be a coincidence, it’s not really.
Instead it is a meaningful message for the person who is tapped on the shoulder by SYNCRONICITY. There is an underlying pattern from the universe, not just random events.
As you consider synchronicity in your life, consider what is staring you in the face. It’s not a coincidence! The universe is trying to speak with you. Are you listening? Are you paying attention to synchronicity?
